The Department for Transport has today (12 May) released new and revised guidance for Transport Operators to help them ensure they provide safer workplaces and services for themselves, their workers and passengers across all modes of public transport.
The Department expects that individual transport providers translate the principles and examples in this guidance into specific actions.
CPT points out that the guidance should be considered alongside legal duties and other guidance produced by the government and the relevant transport regulators. And transport providers should also remain mindful of their obligations under both Health and Safety and Employment legislation.
The Department stress that due to the integrated nature of the UK’s public transport system, it is important that transport providers co- ordinate their planning and their actions with other providers.
CPT will release further guidance later today to assist members with managing risk within their operations
