New CTA member, The Great Tapestry of Scotland is Europe’s largest tapestry located in Galashiels, the historic textile heartland of the Scottish Borders and just 50 minutes from Edinburgh. One thousand stitchers created this masterpiece, telling the intensely moving narrative of Scotland. Housed in a purpose-built visitor centre and a five-star visitor attraction, it is made up of 160 panels and tells Scotland’s story over 420 million years to present times.
A visit to the Tapestry takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours with group rates available. Tea/coffee or a private lunch can also be provided. Bespoke and private tours or workshops with the Tapestry head stitcher are available, along with the additional option of a Stitchers’ Gin and Cheese tasting. Prices on application.
