The Royal Mint Experience at Ynysmaerdy, near Cardiff, has a temporary exhibition in celebration of His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation Day. The Coronation-themed exhibition features a range of unique objects from The Royal Mint Museum’s collection, hands-on interactives, and a special photo opportunity. ‘Crowned: The Making of a Monarch’ exhibition will run for 12 months.
The tour takes visitors ‘behind the scenes’ of coin making, followed by an interactive exhibition exploring 1,100 years of The Royal Mint’s history. Visitors will also have the unique experience of seeing The Royal Mint’s workforce producing official UK coins as well as coins for other countries.
The Royal Mint Experience is also staging a Christmas Experience, running every day from 25 November to 24 December. With the opportunity to strike your own coin, events will also include a festive fun fair and Christmas markets.
Next year at The Royal Mint Experience there will be new additions to the exhibition. The new Key To The Mint package will include a detailed guided tour of the exhibition, highlighting the fascinating points of interest from over 1,100yrs, and striking a coin for all group members. Trade exclusive rates of £30pp are available, adding lunch for an extra £9.95pp.
The Royal Mint Experience has a range of additional group packages, the most popular being the Tour & Lunch, which includes a behind the scenes tour, exhibition entrance, lunch from their dedicated menu, 10 per cent discount voucher for the gift shop, and a complimentary gift. The Royal Mint Experience won ‘Best Guided Tour’ at the Group & Leisure Travel Awards 2022 and the attraction has been nominated for two awards for 2023 – best guided tour and best museum gallery.
