The second Live Session – Road to Recovery took place this week and featured presentations from CTA partner member Visit Wales and member Hilton Hotels.
The online event kicked off with a roundup of the latest news on preparing for the recovery across the nations with CPT’s Mark Purchase reporting that there was now some alignment of target dates in England, Scotland and Wales. He advised operators to take note of the different guidance that was available in terms of transport operation and recommended that a separate risk assessment is prepared for trips to the respective nations.
The latest guidance for coach operators for Scotland is here, and the Wales guidance is here, and the Northern Ireland guidance is here.
Mark Purchase was followed by a session involving CTA chair Robert Shaw asking a range of questions to Hilton’s Julie Baker about how the group is preparing to welcome coach groups back including its CleanStay policy.
Visit Wales’ Senior Tourism Marketing Manager (B2B) Clare Dwight then took operators through a presentation on the specific preparations being made in Wales for welcoming back coach groups as well as news of a number of new attractions and other developments that can help enhance future trips. At the outset, she echoed Mark Purchase’s advice on the need to be aware of policies and procedures in the devolved areas and advised that since there is a specific range of policies covering Covid-safe procedures in Wales, operators should remember that “when in Wales, follow all the Welsh guidelines’.

The final session in the Road to Recovery series will be on Tue 1 June and more details and registration links will be sent nearer the time.
And in the meantime, there will also be a further CTA session focused specifically on Wales with our Partner member Visit Wales on Tue 11 May. Look out for more details on that very soon!
