CTA member Raby Castle in County Durham has created a festive package for groups featuring the new Raby Castle at Christmas experience. For the first time in fifty years, groups can visit the ground floor of the fourteenth century castle, which will be open to the public in the build up to Christmas.

The new seasonal installation will transport visitors back in time to experience a traditional family Christmas at Raby Castle. Designed by Raby’s current custodian, Lady Barnard, the event tells the story of Christmas Day at the castle, from the morning’s gift stockings to an evening of dining.

The experience involves access to eight rooms in the castle, which will be decorated as they would have been in Christmas past, including traditional gifts, flowers, and Christmas trees. The seasonal installation will also include items from Raby Castle’s collection not previously displayed to the public, from table decorations to toys and games that were gifts in decades past.

Groups can also enjoy a post-tour festive afternoon tea within The Vinery, which will be decorated with festive greenery and lights, and offers panoramic views of Raby Castle.

For groups of 16 or more, the Christmas at Raby experience is available for £19 per person, or £45 per person including the festive afternoon tea. Raby Castle provides free coach parking, and complimentary admission and refreshments for coach drivers.
