Roland Eglinton, managing director of CTA member Chalkwell Coaches is in training for the London Marathon in aid of Wellchild. The event takes place on 23 April and will involve around 40,000 other runners as it returns to its traditional April slot following Covid-related disruption.
A keen runner in his spare time, Roland has completed several shorter events including half-marathons, although this will represent an even greater challenge. Wellchild is a national charity which helps children with exceptional health needs to be cared for in their own homes, giving them the best chance to thrive.
“The London Marathon is such an iconic event, and something that I have aspired to do from a young age. I was originally meant to do it in 2022 but had to withdraw due to getting Covid,” says Roland. “These days I spend so much of my time at a desk in virtual meetings, the extra training has given me a greater incentive to get on my feet and get moving. A big part of our business is taking children to and from school. Wellchild is a great charity and I’m very happy to be raising money for them. I know times are tough for a lot of people, but I’ve been really touched by the generous donations so far”.
