Raby Castle’s recent landscape design scheme and remodelled eighteenth century walled gardens have been nominated in the 2025 European Garden Award.

The castle has been shortlisted in the Historic Park or Garden category following the redesign of the extensive public areas throughout the grounds, which formed part of a three-year regeneration project completed in 2024.

Led by acclaimed landscape architect Alistair Baldwin, the project recaptured the sociable community feel of Old Raby village, which existed beyond the castle walls. The new landscape spaces connect historic buildings that have been restored to their former glory.

The award nomination also acknowledged the remodelling of the 300-year-old Walled Gardens which were transformed as part of the development.

Raby Castle, Park and Gardens welcomes group visits. The attraction includes one of the finest medieval castles in the UK, surrounded by a 200-acre Deer Park where red and fallow deer roam. Including bespoke visits, a look behind-the-scenes at the Castle, as well as afternoon teas, the Raby Castle’s group visits team caters for a range of needs and interests.
