The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Sandown on the Isle of Wight is a refuge for exotic animals. With over 70 different animal species, the sanctuary is a captivating attraction which has also welcomed new animals this year.
Two brown bears, named Benji and Balu, have arrived from Azerbaijan following rescue from poor conditions, to be rehomed in a new 3,500m² habitat. In addition to the new arrivals, visitors can see a wide range of animals including lions, tigers, monkeys, as well as birds and fish, and reptiles & invertebrates.
Talks take place throughout the day, and the sanctuary is open year-round, from 10am-5pm in Spring and Summer, and 10am-4pm in Autumn and Winter, and is closed only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Wildheart also features an award-winning café, which is also in an idyllic location right on Yaverland Beach.
For groups of over 15 people, the discounted group rate starts at £9.50 per person (45% off standard Sanctuary admissions prices). For just £2.50 extra per person, groups can add on a guided tour, led by an expert animal educator. Group leaders and coach drivers are also offered free admission. The sanctuary also includes ample coach parking, and free food and beverages for coach drivers and tour leaders.
