The Royal Mint Experience near Cardiff has launched an exciting new tour including its ground-breaking gold recovery technology.

Using a world-first process, The Royal Mint extracts precious metals including gold from electronics provided for recycle, such as mobile phones and laptops. This sustainable initiative highlights The Mint’s commitment to a greener future and adds a modern twist to its centuries-old tradition of excellence.

Visiting The Royal Mint, groups will see examples of Britain’s coins through the years, from historic to the modern day, and will learn about Edward VIII’s unconventional coinage to viewing ancient coins over 1,000 years old.

Not to be missed is the collection of commemorative coins celebrating everything from royal milestones to cultural icons, showcasing a perfect blend of artistry and heritage.

After ceasing production of overseas circulating coins in December 2024, The Mint has embraced its transformation into a hub of innovation. With more than £17million invested in new ventures, including luxury jewellery as well as precious metals development, the revamped tour offers a glimpse into the exciting future of this iconic institution.
