Coventry’s historic St Mary’s Guildhall claimed a trio of awards at the West Midlands Tourism Awards 2025, taking place on 18 March at Edgbaston Stadium.

The 700-year-old Grade I listed building won the Gold award for International Tourism, as well as the top honour for Accessible & Inclusive Tourism, and the Silver award for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year.

The attraction was praised by judges for its tailored approach to international visitors and the staff’s “genuine passion” for accessibility and history. This demonstration also made CTA’s February fam trip to St. Mary’s Guildhall, as part of the annual Conference, a memorable visit. As well as the splendour of the guildhall and the story of its merchants, guide re-enactors brought to life ordinary people in the Tudor era.

The venue prides itself on offering unique experiences that cater to national and international visitors, from bespoke group packages with unique hands-on history experiences, to multilingual historical information sheets in various languages – as well as its new tablet service with augmented reality.

The city centre attraction also hosts family-friendly activities, sensory-friendly experiences, accessible tours, educational visits and community-focused talks, exhibitions and workshops.

Abi Moore, heritage and venue manager at St Mary’s Guildhall, said: “We re-opened with a completely new visitor offer in 2022 and a huge amount of work has gone into creating a high-quality heritage experience for people of all backgrounds, so we are delighted to have been recognised at a very special event for the region alongside so many other brilliant teams and attractions.”

Funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund sustains ongoing events, activities, and capital investment at St Mary’s Guildhall, enhancing access to the venue and the renowned Coventry Tapestry with thanks to National Lottery players.
