The much-awaited Silverstone Experience is opening on 25 October. The attraction will take visitors on an exciting journey through the past, present and future of Silverstone and British motorsport.
“We are expecting a lot of interest from the coach market,” says Gillian Bell who is responsible for trade sales. “It promises a fascinating half-day of entertainment for everyone, not just motorsports enthusiasts.”
The Experience is centrally located at the Silverstone Circuit near Towcester, with ample free coach parking on site. There are excellent value catering options for groups, which can be packaged with entry, making this destination perfect for coach day-trip itineraries. The site is also surrounded by some popular heritage sites which could be incorporated to make an appealing short break package.
The attraction will be having a high profile VIP launch in December, supported by a significant marketing campaign which will support coach bookings.
The exhibition will immerse visitors in the sights and sounds of motor racing. Take your place on the starting grid as the teams make the final preparations before the start of the race. The engines roar and the crowds cheer as you start your journey through the past, present, and future of Silverstone and British Motor Racing.
In the first zone, you’ll discover how Silverstone’s famous corners got their names – from a medieval abbey to the historic Stowe house. Next, you’ll find out about the circuit’s roots as an RAF base and have a go at piloting a Wellington Bomber, then explore Silverstone village and play a game or two in the pub!
As you experience the history of motor racing at the track – including the sounds and the smells – you can climb into a replica 1940s Grand Prix car, and see iconic race-winning vehicles from across the decades.
Modern-day racing then comes spectacularly to life with hands-on activities across topics from commentating to safety and strategy. Learn how to design a world-beating racing car or bike in the Technology Lab.
After hearing about our 20 racing legends, you’ll round off your visit by joining the grid to experience the thrill of speeding around Silverstone alongside your racing heroes in an immersive show ‘The Ultimate Lap of Silverstone’ with commentary by Murray Walker.
