The Royal Collection Trust has released its Group Visits & Private Tours 2024 brochure, featuring the Official Residences of His Majesty The King, including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Available for download from this link, the new brochure presents special visits and highlights, as well as opening dates and times, and group rates.
Buckingham Palace includes visits to The State Rooms, including the Throne Room, Ballroom, and Picture Gallery. The Garden Highlights Tour explores the history of the garden, from the rose garden to the Palace tennis court, where King George VI and Fred Perry played in the 1930s. Meanwhile, The Royal Mews, the home of all road travel arrangements for The King and members of the Royal Family, displays objects and settings from horse-and-carriages to cars.
In 2024, a highlight at Windsor Castle is the display of Queen Mary’s Dolls House. The largest and most famous dolls’ house in the world was built for Queen Mary, wife of George V, by the leading British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. The house has a fully stocked wine cellar, flushing toilets, running water, and working lifts, and is filled with thousands of objects made by the leading artists, designers, craftsmen, and manufacturers of the time. Meanwhile, the talk “Queen Elizabeth II’s Life at the Castle” will give insights into her time at her favourite weekend home.
In 2024 at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, special events include Mary, Queen of Scots, where groups can follow in the footsteps of one of Scotland’s most famous and fascinating historical figures. Meanwhile, visitors can also see how Bonnie Prince Charlie brought the Palace to life in 1745, when he set up court for six weeks as he attempted to claim the British throne for his father. Visitors can see the Great Gallery where the Prince held extravagant balls and receptions.
The new brochure also includes all the information to help plan a group visit, including maps and coach parking.
