CTA partner Visit Wales has highlighted some recent developments including a new group-friendly hotel at Milford Haven, and restoration at National Botanic Garden of Wales.

A new 100 bedroom hotel opens at Milford Waterfront in spring 2022, with views across Milford Marina on the Pembrokeshire coast. It will be managed by Celtic Manor Resort, as part of its expanding collection of properties, The Celtic Collection.

Forming part of the Celtic Collection’s new portfolio of Tŷ Hotels, the 46,000 sq ft property will be located at the entrance to Milford Waterfront. When it opens in spring 2022, the new hotel will feature four floors of bedroom accommodation and benefit from picture-postcard views across Milford Marina.

Tŷ Milford Waterfront will also house a restaurant and bar, a private dining area, and an activity suite within the ground floor.

“The new Tŷ Hotel is great news for Pembrokeshire and represents a watershed moment for Milford Waterfront,” says Andy Jones, chief executive, Port of Milford Haven. “The Celtic Collection, with its international standing, shares our passion for the destination – with its fascinating history and stunning marina backdrop – and has joined us to tell a global audience that Milford Waterfront is a fantastic place to visit and to stay.”

The new attraction at National Botanic Garden of Wales has won an international award for its restoration project which includes two new lakes, a waterfall and six bridges for visitors to explore.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales Regency Restoration project is this year’s Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) People’s Choice. The award recognises civil engineering projects across the globe that have made a positive impact on their local communities.

The project, which took five years to complete at a cost of more than £7million, is the largest of its kind undertaken in Wales and includes two new lakes, bridges, dams, cascades, a waterfall and an extensive network of paths, all set in 300 acres of wooded parkland.

“We are extremely honoured that the Regency Restoration project won the ICE People’s Choice Award,” says Huw Francis, Botanic Garden director. “It recognises the culmination of hard endeavour and highlights the fact that active lifestyles are becoming more popular. Providing green, well-designed places – such as our garden – are vital for people’s wellbeing and good mental health.”
