Historic Royal Palaces is aiming to celebrate the forthcoming festive season in style. Hampton Court Palace and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens will be the home of a new light trail and regally festive decorations are set to delight visitors to Kensington Palace and the Tower of London.

At Hampton Court Palace from 7 December 2021 – 3 January 2022, an enchanting and playful evening light trail will offer visitors a chance to explore magical lighting projections, illuminations and lanterns in a unique historical setting. Inspired by the Palace’s famous astronomical clock, guests will lose track of time as they wander through the illuminated cobbled courtyards and gardens, as dusk falls to reveal a glittering, fantastical wonderland of clocks and moons, of planets and sundials. The twilight trail will be a separately-ticketed evening event and tickets will be released shortly, so keep an eye on the Historic Royal Palaces website for further information.

It was the Victorians who began many of the Christmas traditions we recognise today, with the popularisation of the Christmas card and the decorated tree. From 1 December 2021 – 6 January 2022, the childhood home of Queen Victoria, Kensington Palace, will be decked with period style decorations that even Queen Victoria herself would be amused by. The legendary Tower of London will also provide a stunning backdrop for Christmas this year, with festive decorations throughout the famous fortress set to delight your clients.

Lastly, look out for a new festive trail at Hillsborough Castle over the festive period. Further details will be released shortly so stay tuned!

Finally, the paths at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens will become sparkling tunnels of light from 7 December 2021 – 3 January 2022, as a new after-dark illuminated trail takes over the gardens. Walk under giant baubles and beneath trees drenched in jewel-like colour, pause at the mesmerising flickering flames in the garden and look out for-Father Christmas along the way.
