Zip World Llechwedd in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, has enhanced its Deep Mine Tour with new and improved interactive elements, audio visuals and light show.

Visitors descend 500ft below ground on Europe’s steepest cable railway where a guide leads a tour of one of the world’s most renowned slate mines. The tour features 10 slate chambers and new interactive elements help visitors to understand and feel what life was like for miners in the past.

Attractions include pushing a miner’s wagon along the tracks and using authentic Victorian mining tools. The state-of-the-art audio visuals and projections visualise the story, including presenting a miner from the past. The tour concludes with a light show over the underground lake, accompanied by the sounds of real miners singing.

Visitors must have good walking ability – and should wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Find out more at the Deep Mine Tour website. Meanwhile, Zip World Llechwedd features further attractions including the Titan zip line, Bounce Below underground trampolines, and a quarry tour in an ex-army truck.

The Slate Landscape of North West Wales, where the attractions are based, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
