Cadw would like to remind coach operators about the advantages of its Tour Operator Scheme when making bookings to its historic properties in Wales.

Cadw is the Welsh government’s historic environment service, presenting visitors with a range of special interest sites and buildings. For group visits, the Tour Operator Scheme provides preferential trade rates, two complimentary places per group, and reduced-price Explorer Passes.

To speed-up entry to Cadw properties, group leaders and guides are also reminded to bring their QR booking codes to scan.

Meanwhile, Cadw says that in 2025 it has welcomed more trade visitors to its historic properties than ever before. In developments among its most famous sites, Caerphilly Castle is now fully open for visitors, including the newly refurbished Great Hall. Castell Coch near Cardiff is open but there is scaffolding in place throughout 2026 as part of its large-scale conservation works. Meanwhile, Tintern Abbey, located in the Wye Valley near Chepstow, is open but conservation works are ongoing throughout 2026 with some scaffold in place.
