Royal Collection Trust has announced that visits for 2022 are now on sale and operators can make group reservations and bookings for visits to the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which will include special displays to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The annual Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace returns from 22 July – 2 October 2022 with a special display of Dorothy Wilding’s portraits of The Queen, along with personal jewellery worn for the sittings.

At Windsor Castle from 7 July – 26 September 2022, a special display will celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne. Groups will see the Coronation Dress and Robe of Estate worn by The Queen for her Coronation at Westminster Abbey as part of a visit to the Castle.

And from March to October 2022, a new Special Visit will combine a self-guided tour of Windsor Castle with a private talk about the role Windsor Castle has played in Her Majesty’s reign and family life.

An expanded tour of Frogmore House will be available in August 2022 with groups able to see more of the royal retreat than ever before. This expanded guided tour will now include the garden, and the route includes views of the lake, Queen Victoria’s Tea House, the Gothic Ruin and Royal Mausoleum, the final resting place of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

Meanwhile, this year’s Christmas display at Windsor Castle from 25 November 2021 to 3 January 2022 will include a 20-foot-high Christmas tree in St George’s Hall and The Princesses’ Pantomimes display. It will bring together costumes worn by Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret for pantomime performances during the Second World War.

And at the Palace of Holyroodhouse between 3 December 2021 and 3 January 2022, there will be glittering decorations to celebrate the festive season, including a 15-foot high Christmas tree in the Great Gallery, while the Great Stair will be draped with velvet garlands, berries and seasonal foliage.
