Visit Kent is encouraging groups to head to the Battle of Britain Memorial, high upon the cliffs between Dover and Folkestone to pay respects to Churchill’s famous “Few” who fought in the skies overhead in 1940 in the Battle of Britain. The Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall lists the names of all those known to have taken part in the Battle of Britain, whilst replica Spitfire and Hurricane stand nearby as a reminder of the iconic machines they flew to victory.
Inside the Wing building experience, the high-tech, multi-media Scramble Experience gives a taste of what life was like to be one of the Few in 1940. With guided tours, café, secure coach parking and great value group rates, savour the stunning views over the Channel towards France and be moved by the simplicity of this clifftop tribute to the men who fought in 1940.
