Salisbury Cathedral has published its 2023-24 prices which include a small increase in admission next year, and some adjustment to age categories to make ticketing simpler, particularly for language groups.
Looking ahead to 2023, the Cathedral is in the process of updating its Magna Carta Exhibition in the Chapter House. During the pandemic the exhibition was temporarily refreshed to reflect issues and rights around the Lockdown Laws and the Black Lives Matter news. These temporary updates are now being updated to improve the display and the visitor journey in the Chapter House to ensure that visitors coming to see the remarkable 1215 Magna Carta, one of only four remaining in the world, get the best possible experience. The new exhibition interpretation should be ready by May 2023 and entry is included in Cathedral admission.
And a major new, free-with-admission Art exhibition, To Be Free, will explore the theme of liberty and opens at Salisbury Cathedral in May 2023. Curated by Beth Hughes, the Cathedral’s visual arts adviser, the exhibition features the work of internationally acclaimed artists including Cornelia Parker’s 13-metre-long embroidery depicting the Magna Carta Wikipedia page, alongside work created by emerging artists. The pieces will explore what freedom is, what it means to be free, how it feels to be free, and the plight of those who are not free.
