Jane Duffelen has sent this message to CTA members in respect of the amount raised at the CTA Conference in memory of Chris Wales.
“Thank you all for your patience whilst I waited for the final donation to arrive – a staggering £3,275 raised at the CTA’s annual conference, which brought the final total to £5,000. I think Chris would have been amazed and moved in equal measure.
“After consultation with the staff on the Haematology/Oncology Ward, you’ll see from the attached letter that I asked them to use the money to purchase two Chemo pumps that would allow patients to receive treatment in their own homes. I felt that this was something that Chris would have appreciated if he had been a suitable candidate for chemotherapy – enabling him to keep a watchful eye on his beloved runner beans, never miss a favourite film on Talking Pictures and maybe even wander down to put the world to rights at the Blue Bell!
“Chris enjoyed such a rich and varied life and his vibrant presence will always be greatly missed. Your generosity will give someone else the opportunity to continue to light up the lives of their friends and family, which I hope you’ll agree is a fitting tribute to Chris.
“Thank you all again – your kindness has been not only greatly appreciated but also a comfort.”
