Mersey Ferries has celebrated the maiden voyage of its new £26 million Royal Daffodil ferry during a ceremony on 22 September.

The vessel brings a modern onboard experience to one of Liverpool’s best-known visitor attractions. Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram was joined at the event by Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Logistics Keir Mather MP and television presenter Claire Sweeney.

Painted in the service’s traditional red, white and black colours, the Royal Daffodil features a main-deck lounge with panoramic windows providing views across the waterfront, while an open viewing deck on the upper level offers outdoor seating. An onboard lift also provides access between decks.

For coach operators, Mersey Ferries offers a choice of group cruise options, providing an opportunity to add a waterfront experience to a Liverpool itinerary. A cruise can complement visits to the city’s museums, maritime attractions and waterfront landmarks, while group bookings and private boat hire offer options for different itineraries and occasions.

The Royal Daffodil is due to enter scheduled service later in autumn 2026. Operators planning a visit should visit the Mersey Ferries group bookings website or contact Jonathan Lamkin for more information at jonathan.lamkin@merseyferries.co.uk.
