For the first time, three of the University of Oxford’s most significant historic buildings have been brought together to create a group experience.

Oxford Academia Tour: Ceremony, Scholarship and Tradition, has been developed in partnership between the Bodleian Libraries and Oxford University Event Venues, offering visitors exclusive access to the Examination Schools, the Bodleian Libraries and the Sheldonian Theatre, three landmark buildings at the heart of Oxford’s academic and ceremonial life.

Created for group travel and special-interest visitors, the tour provides a unique opportunity to explore the places where generations of students have studied, debated, graduated and celebrated academic achievement.

The tour begins at the Examination Schools on Oxford’s High Street, the University’s principal examination venue and one of its most impressive Victorian buildings. Guests then follow a guided walk through Oxford’s historic streets to the Bodleian Libraries, where they explore the medieval Divinity School and Duke Humfrey’s Library, before concluding at the Sheldonian Theatre, Sir Christopher Wren’s first major architectural commission and the University’s ceremonial hall. The tour culminates with panoramic views of Oxford’s famous dreaming spires from the Sheldonian cupola.

This new experience brings together locations that tell the story of Oxford’s traditions, offering insight into more than eight centuries of University history.

The Oxford Academia Tour is available for groups of up to 14 guests and operates on selected weekdays, subject to University activity and venue availability. Optional lunch and afternoon tea packages are available at the Ashmolean Museum Rooftop Restaurant, allowing groups to extend their visit and enjoy one of Oxford’s most distinctive dining settings.
