Le Tour de France, the world’s most prestigious cycling race, is returning to Britain in July and August 2027 for both the men’s and women’s events.

The men’s race will start on Friday 2 July 2027, instead of a usual Saturday start, with a stage between Edinburgh and Carlisle. Stage two, on Saturday 3 July, will head from Keswick to Liverpool, while stage three is an all-Wales affair, heading from Welshpool to Cardiff on Sunday 4 July.

Le Tour de France Femmes, the women’s race, will start on Friday 30 July with a stage between Leeds and Manchester. Stage two, on Saturday 31 July, will head from Manchester to Sheffield, while London will host stage three on Sunday 1 August.

The event presents opportunities for group travel, while coach operators should also be aware of road closures that will take place before and during the race. While the event will be raced on closed roads, the road closure system will also be in effect for the publicity caravan of sponsorship vehicles, distributing free merchandise to roadside fans, that will travel ahead of the race.

Following the British start, both routes will return to France for the conclusion of the races. 2027 will be the fifth time the men’s event has visited Britain, while it’s the first occasion for the women’s race.
