Coach groups are invited to experience the two-day Coin, Coal and Cheers package in South Wales. The tour takes in the Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan, involving the Royal Mint, the Rhondda Heritage Park Museum, and Hensol Castle Distillery.

The Rhondda Heritage Park Museum provides a Welsh Coal Mining Experience at the Lewis Merthyr Colliery in Trehafod, near Pontypridd, with its  Black Gold Experience Underground Guided Tour. Groups are led by ex-miner tour guides who worked the pits of the Rhondda Valleys with fascinating tales of life underground. No two tours are the same as the guides are full of facts, stories, and jokes.

The Rhondda Heritage Park Museum has just received the CPT’s Coach Friendly Award and includes a large, free coach park. Joining them, The Royal Mint, based in Llantrisant, has also won the award, and provides a free meal to all coach drivers on their group visits.

A Royal Mint tour takes visitors behind the scenes of coin making, including an interactive exhibition exploring 1,100 years of The Royal Mint’s history. Groups can also see The Royal Mint’s workforce producing official UK coins, and take the opportunity to strike their very own coin as a memento of their visit.

Meanwhile, Hensol Castle Distillery is a full-scale gin distillery housed in a seventeenth century castle, offering a visitor experience, gin school, and cocktail masterclass. The attraction can cater for large groups up to 150 people and offers preferential rates for groups of 16 or more

The three-attraction, two-day package is priced at £50 per person, and groups can visit each attraction individually. Find out more with the Coin, Coal and Cheers brochure, and to book, e-mail groups@royalmint.com.
