St Mary’s Guildhall, Coventry is hosting a travel trade fam trip on Thursday 12 October, 11am-1pm. The event follows renovation including a 2 year, £6million major restoration.

St Mary’s Guildhall, located in the city’s historic Cathedral Quarter, escaped bombing raids during the Second World War and is one of the city’s only remaining medieval buildings. Standing as a testament to medieval Coventry’s power and wealth, the Guildhall is home to the magnificent Coventry Tapestry, which along with its spectacular interiors, provides a glimpse into the Coventry’s fascinating history.

Aimed at coach operators and wholesalers, the fam includes arrival at 11am, with meet and greet including a welcome into the guildhall. A private guided tour then takes place, with a cream tea in the Undercroft concluding the event.

St Mary’s Guildhall has acted as the centre of power in England during the War of the Roses, housed the crown jewels, been the prison of Mary Queen of Scots and hosted famous literary figures, such as George Eliot.

Visitors can see the newly unveiled medieval kitchen, one of the best preserved in the country, uncovered for the first time in 100 years. In the stunning Great Hall, the famous Coventry Tapestry still hangs in its original spot after 500 years.
