National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthen

The National Botanic Garden of Wales near Carmarthen has just completed the Regency Restoration project. It has taken 5 years and cost £7million to restore features of a Regency period landscape including lakes, bridges and cascades. Originally created in the late 18th and early 19th century for William Paxton, it is now called Waun Las National Nature Reserve. It has just won the People’s Choice Award for the Institution of Civil Engineers that recognises civil engineering projects across the globe that have made a positive impact on their local communities.
