Kynren, the multi-award-winning outdoor live theatre event taking place in Bishop Auckland throughout the summer, from 27 July to 14 September, has added a new dining package, as well as new travel by coach information.

Kynren’s exclusive dining package offers visitors the chance to enjoy a three-course meal in the spectacular Arches Hall, while pre-dinner drinks can be purchased on a panoramic lakeside terrace with views of Auckland Castle.

The menu is prepared by an onsite chef and features local and seasonal produce, with mains including pan roasted chicken filled with morel mushroom mousse, served with roasted celeriac and potatoes, seasonal vegetables and chicken jus. There’s also a vegan option consisting of baby summer vegetable saffron risotto, served with kale pesto and carrot crisps. Gluten free options are available for all three courses, and the meal also includes a large glass of red or white wine, followed by coffee or tea.

The Kynren dining package costs £54.95 per person with limited availability each night during the show’s eight-week run. A ticket to a performance of Kynren will also need to be purchased separately.

Kynren, the epic tale of England, transports audiences through 2,000 years of English history, performed by a 1,000-strong volunteer cast and crew on a seven-and-a-half-acre outdoor stage in County Durham

New for 2024, visitors can travel back in time and visit the Viking Village, talking to the villagers as they go about their daily lives. Kynren attendees can visit the cookhouse, see villagers tend to their animals, and watch the blacksmith at work in his forge.

Working with multiple coach companies and tour operators across the country, Kynren has created an interactive map which shows the current coach pick-up points across the UK. Available on its website from this link, Kynren’s coach map enables prospective visitors to find the closest tour operator and its respective coach stop. This is presented alongside an additional search option by entering the closest town and setting the radius to view all the coach companies and pick-up points in that area.

Over 200 coach stops are currently available on the map, with locations ranging from Portsmouth and Brighton in the south, to Cambridge and Ipswich in the east, plus Swansea and Newport in Wales.

Shows run on Saturday nights, with each 90-minute performance starting at sunset and ending in starlight.

The 2024 dates of Kynren are taking place: Saturday 27 July 2024; Saturday 3 August 2024; Saturday 10 August 2024; Saturday 17 August 2024; Saturday 31 August 2024; Saturday 7 September 2024; Saturday 14 September 2024.
