Liverpool’s Strawberry Field has revealed images of a new mosaic that will feature in the bandstand opening later this year. Meanwhile, groups can enjoy the updated garden tour, featuring soundscapes intended to help visitors explore mindfulness and reconnect with nature.

Strawberry Field is an interactive experience that tells stories of the Victorian house, its transition to ownership by The Salvation Army as a home to the city’s most vulnerable children, through to John Lennon’s childhood – as well as the writing and recording of ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’.

The attraction’s gardens feature a bandstand with the new mosaic inspired by New York’s John Lennon memorial, the ‘Imagine’ mosaic in Central Park’s Strawberry Fields in New York. The new mosaic at the Liverpool attraction measures 6.4 metres in diameter and covers the entire floor of the bandstand. Made up of 390,000 tiles, it was pieced together by four expert artists, taking over 15 weeks to make, with each piece laid onto the resin backing by hand.

The new bandstand is based upon the drum featured on The Beatles’ iconic album cover, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Featuring advanced computer lighting and sound technology, visitors will enjoy musical and theatrical performances from the bandstand via wireless headphones as they roam the grounds. The bandstand will also feature artwork by renowned pop artist, James Wilkinson.

The mosaic will be a permanent feature in the new Strawberry Field Bandstand, which will open later this year.
