Lauren Hogg, VisitScotland has sent the following message to coach operators and wholesalers:

“We hope you are all keeping safe and well in these strange and unsettling times.

“This week we should have all been mingling, networking and talking all things Scotland at Expo in Aberdeen. Even though that’s not the case, it’s important to us that we take the time to check in with our valued partners in these uncertain times. We wanted to reach out to you to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the work you do to support Scotland and commend you for your strength and resilience in dealing with the challenges that have faced the whole industry these last few weeks.

“VisitScotland are working hard to support Scottish tourism businesses so they can navigate these tricky times and hopefully come out the other side stronger and even more eager to work with you. In the meantime, I’m sure they value your patience and understanding as they look to protect their staff and livelihoods. We know times are tough for operators as well, and know that you will be taking the same precautions, so we are here to support you all personally in whatever way we can – please do not hesitate to get in touch with Fiona or myself.

“On a positive note, it has been so encouraging to see how isolation has brought about some amazing stories of people connecting with each other despite the physical barriers. We hope this carries on as we return to normality and brings about some amazing new working relationships between you and Scottish businesses.

“We were offering a fam trip exclusive to CTA members – you can view the itinerary here if you are
interested. All the other fam trip itineraries and some e-books have been added to our travel trade website to provide more inspiration for when recovery begins.

“We are sad we didn’t get the chance to host you in Aberdeen, and it’s a shame that your customers are missing their holidays, but Scotland will be ready to welcome you all back with open arms once it’s safe to do so – here’s a wee video to hopefully warm your cockles!

“I look forward to seeing you all at the next CTA event where we can all enjoy a wee dram to celebrate.”
