Fri 21 November

The Winter Networking event has a special pre-night Fam for buyers at the Peebles Hydro Hotel, including a complimentary gin tasting evening, dinner and overnight stay. With limited availability for this option, buyer members will need to book early.

Those staying at Peebles on Friday also have a chance to visit CTA member Abbotsford in Melrose on the way.

Discover Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, in the Scottish Borders.  This “conundrum castle” is an iconic monument to the 19th century poet & novelist, the “Great Scott” who changed how the world saw Scotland and Scotland saw itself.

  • Learn about Scott’s life & achievements with guided and self-guided tours of the Historic House & Gardens. Bespoke packages available.
  • Visit Witch Corner (Supernatural Folklore trail)
  • Dine in Ochiltree’s café with catering packages like afternoon tea & Scottish Platter.  Add a taste of Abbotsford Whisky or Gin.
  • Visit the chapel and view holy relics belonging to St John Henry Newman, Britain’s newest saint.
  • Wander around Abbotsford’s wider estate, including picturesque woodland and riverside trails.
  • Shop for unique gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop & browse the free exhibition in the Visitor Centre, open all year round.

Why Abbotsford is great for your group:

  • Close to Edinburgh & en route from Northern England, Hadrian’s Wall & York
  • Special group rates for a range of tours & catering options
  • Easy coach drop off and free parking
  • Free guide & driver entrance & café voucher
  • Expert tours in English, French & German, printed guides in nine languages.

If you would like to visit Abbotsford on Friday 21 November, please email groups@scottsabbotsford.co.uk to let them know with an approximate arrival time.  The house closes at 4pm. Free car parking is available in the visitor centre car park. If arriving from the south (A7) along the B6360, you should not enter Abbotsford via the first left turn, a single track road next to a lodge. Continue down the B6360 to reach our Visitor Centre car park. What Three Words fish.televise.nylon for the entrance to the car park.
